“Darling of the crowd”

Scott Brison was described by CanWest and the Daily in Halifax as the “Darling of the crowd”. The crowd was obviously on his side as he looked like a true leader – confident and knowledgeable about the issues.

Scott was a strong voice in the Moncton debate and has firmly established himself among the top tier of candidates. This race is not about claiming rights to leadership or selling themselves as party outsiders.

It’s about policy, purpose, and ideas. Scott is the candidate of bold ideas.

A few great quotes from the debate:

"Just because you're in opposition doesn't mean you check your principles at the door,"

"I want to say this to Stephen Harper: We are not defeatist,"

Brison was really good. Was leaning Dion but have decided to back him now.

I went to a Brison event in Montreal about 10 days ago. His organizers are easy going and provide plenty of access to their candidate. Went to a similar event with Ignatieff and got a handshake before a hefty guy dragged Ignatieff off to "more important people".

These debates don't mean much from week to week. If you look at Manitoba, Kennedy (at home in the West), Dryden, Dion, and Maurizio seemed to generate a lot of buzz. Ignatieff had an off day in Winnipeg, was much better in Moncton. Kennedy had a weaker performance in Moncton, Dion looked good, Rae did well both times. The point is that Scott did well because it was his home turf. I like Scott, but he is not even in the top 4-5 nationally in terms of organisation on the ground...a few Ottawa hill staffers and YLCers can't win you a campaign.
